Banshkhali Ecopark is located in a beautiful natural environment in Banshkhali Upazila of Chittagong district. It is located 55 km south of Chittagong city. The eco-park is built around numerous hills, forests, lakes and the vast coastline of the Bay of Bengal. Banshkhali Ecopark was established in 2003 with one thousand hectares of forest land in the left rhyme and right rhyme area of Banshkhali Upazila. There are two huge lakes called left rhyme and right rhyme. The lake has the largest suspension bridge in the country. This eco-park has 310 species of plants. There are also Maya deer, Chitra deer, tiger, cheetah tiger, elephant, monkey, Hanuman, hedgehog, etc. Banshkhali Eco Park has a government-run picnic spot, rest house, watchtower and hilltop corner. The sea shoreline can be seen from the hilltop corner. The information and education center was built here on August 21, 2011. There are VIP quality Airabat Rest House and Hilltop Cottage to stay. Banshkhali Eco Park is seen in different forms in different seasons, so tourists come here to visit throughout the year. However, its popularity is highest in winter.
How to go there:
If you want to go to Banshkhali Ecopark, you have to go to Baddarhat in Chittagong first. Chittagong can be reached by bus, train and air from Dhaka. From Dhaka’s Sayedabad bus station, you can take Hanif, S Alam, Saudia, Unique, Sohag, Greenline, Silkline, Baghdad Express etc., buses to Chittagong. AC, non-AC bus fares are usually 400 to 1200 TK. If you want to go by train from Dhaka to Chittagong, you can go by train like Prabhati, Mahanagar Godhuli, Subarna Express, Turna Nishita etc. The fare of these trains varies from 350 TK to 1500 TK. You can go directly to Chittagong by Bangladesh Biman, United Air, NovoAir, Regent Air. Two buses from Bahaddarhat bus terminal in Chittagong to Banshkhali – Banshkhali Special Service and Close Door Service leave Chittagong every 20 minutes for Banshkhali. It takes two hours. And the rent is 80 to 100 TK per person. You have to get off the bus and take a rickshaw. The rickshaw stopped in front of Banshkhali Eco Park. Banshkhali Eco Park can be reached directly by CNG from Chittagong. The rent is 400 to 500 TK in reserve.
How to go low cost:
From Dhaka’s Sayedabad bus counter, you can go to Chittagong by non-AC buses like Saudia, S Alam, Hanif, Shyamoli etc. The fare is 400 to 450 TK. Again, it is possible to go for less than 200 TK by train. Then take a bus from Baddarhat bus station to Eco Park.
How to go luxuriously:
You can go to Chittagong from Dhaka by AC bus like Green Line, Saudia, Hanif etc. Rent 650 to 1200 TK. And there are luxury rooms on the train. By air, you can go to Chittagong by Bangladesh Biman, United Air, US-Bangla, Regent Airways. Rent 3000-10000 TK. You can go directly to Ecopark from Chittagong by reserving CNG or a private car.
